Welcome to the world of Jazzcats! You’re an aspiring musician who wants to make it big in the jazz scene.
Meowmo the cat has decided to guide you. Along the way, he will teach you an indispensable skill that all great musicians have -- the ability to transcribe music.
Music transcription is when you listen to music and translate what you hear into something you can see. Musicians transcribe music to improve their ear training skills, learn how other musicians construct their melodies, and gain inspiration for their own compositions.
Jazzcats! has two playing modes: gameplay and freestyle.
GAMEPLAY
In each level, there is a short melody for you to transcribe. Most melodies are transcribed excerpts from jazz recordings.
- listen to the audio sample that you will transcribe
- add and erase notes in your transcription
- play your transcription and compare it to the audio sample
- use hints if you are stuck
- unlock cat musicians as a reward
FREESTYLE
In freestyle mode, let your creativity shine.
- make melodies, arrangements, and beats with your unlocked cat musicians
- settings allow you to customize your song to your liking
- share your musical compositions
